This fire took place at a school in Kumbakonam. It nearly killed 94 students. However, the officer offered quick measures and save the remaining lives. Considering his bravery during the fire, Radhakrishnan was immediately posted at the worst affected coastal town during the tsunami. This town was Nagapattinam. The flood victims speak of him as a savior. While there were no transport facilities, the IAS officer went the extra mile to reach people. He made sure that everyone received proper aid and care. Moreover, he built confidence among the locals and worked with them to help others. One such case is that of an orphaned girl. During the floods, many children lost their parents.
