The Maharashtra Public Service/Maharashtra Administrative Services Exam/MPSC Rajyaseva Exam is conducted to select officers for civil service jobs in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The Maharashtra Public Service Commission is established under Article 315 of the Constitution of India. MPSC Exam or MPSC Rajyaseva Exam is conducted by the Maharashtra state in order to hire candidates for different positions available.

Eligibility Criteria – MPSC Rajyaseva Exam

The eligibility criteria for MPSC exam/MPSC Rajyaseva Exam as follows, the candidates have to be Indian Nationals.

  • Age Limit
  • Educational Qualifications
  • Physical Fitness

Age Limit

To begin with, the minimum age is 19 years, and the maximum age is 38 years. Later, there will be relaxation for reserved categories.

So, below is the complete information about the age limit for MPSC Exam:

  • Generally, for Backward Classes, the minimum age limit is 19, and the maximum age is 43.
  • Then for, Ex-Servicemen minimum age limit is 19, and the maximum age limit is for general category is 43, for the backward classes is 48 years.
  • For qualified players, the minimum age limit is 19, and the maximum age limit is 43 for both general category and backward classes.
  • Lastly, a person with a disability minimum age limit is, 19 and the maximum age limit is 45

Then next is an educational qualification, criteria for Maharashtra Administrative Services Exam (MPSC) are:

  • One should have a good understanding of Marathi language
  • Then, a Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized university or an equivalent qualification.

For this exam, there is no specific number of attempts, but one should know to understand the age limit before writing the exam. Later, students who are studying in the final year can also write the MPSC Exam.

Physical Fitness

Some of the seats in MPSC posts need physical fitness requirements. So, the minimum height for some specific posts such as Dy Superintendent of police or posts related to transport department is 165 cm for male candidates and 157 cm for female candidates. Then the concerned department gives the details of physical eligibility requirements.

Pattern – MPSC Rajyaseva Exam

The MPSC exam/MPSC Rajyaseva Exam is conducted in three stages:

  • First is Prelims
  • Next is Mains
  • Lastly, it’s Interview

It is required to clear each stage in order to go next stage.

Preliminary Exam

To begin with, the Maharashtra Administrative Services Exam consists of two papers which are objective type questions.

Paper I – It contains 100 questions and total marks of 200

Paper II – It contains 80 questions and total marks of 200.

Some of the important points to be kept in mind are:

  • There will be negative marking for incorrect answers.
  • For paper II there won’t be any negative marking. For the questions on decision making.
  • Later for the merit ranking both Papers I and Paper-II, to qualify for the main exam. But prelims marks are not applicable for the final merit list.
  • Lastly, all the questions are in English and Marathi language. But except for those questions which are there to know English knowledge.

Main Exam

The main exam consists of six papers. The main paper also consists of negative marking for the objective type of questions.

Paper-I and Paper-II are language papers (Marathi and English) which consists of an essay, grammar, comprehension, translation. Paper-I is the descriptive form and multiple-choice questions for Paper-II. Total marks – 100 and Time – 3 hours for Paper-I and Paper-II is 1 hour.

The rest four papers consist of General Studies. Paper consists of multiple-choice questions. Total marks – 150 and Time – 2 hours.

Interview

Lastly, it’s an interview for all those candidates who successfully cleared the main exam. In this round, candidates will be tested for things such as attitude, communication skills, ability to think, presence of mind etc.

This section mainly concentrates on the complete information of MPSC Exam syllabus.

Prelims – MPSC Rajyaseva Exam

Paper I mainly includes following topics –

  • A complete history of India and more importance is given to the Maharashtra state. Understanding the state of the country in a political, social and economic manner.
  • Knowledge of current events of state and international importance. Along with this, one must know about the Political System, Public Policy, Urban Governance etc.
  • Knowledge of General Science and also Social and Economic Development.
  • General issues of the state on the environment, climate etc.

Paper II

Later, for Paper-II, one must have deep knowledge of basic concepts like comprehension skills, Logical and analytical skills, decision-making skills, and problem-solving skills.

Also, one must know about basic numeracy and Marathi and English comprehension skills.

Main Exam – MPSC Rajyaseva Exam

Then, next for the main exam as already mentioned it consists of 6 papers and it has negative marking.

Paper I

The paper is of Marathi and English with a total of 100 marks. Further, it contains two sections one is for Marathi and the other for English. Both these sections contain essay writing, translation and lastly, precis writing. For the essay, writing candidate need to write about 400 words, and for translation, one must able to translate from English to Marathi and Marathi to English. Both these sections contain 50 marks each.

Paper II

Paper-II also has Marathi and English with a total of 100 marks. But, here it is about grammar and comprehension. Further, it contains two sections with every 50 marks. In this one section is for Marathi and the other for English and further each section contains comprehension and grammar.

GS(General Studies ) Paper I – History and Geography of 150 marks – Time 2 hours and it is objective form

GS Paper II – Indian Constitution and Indian Politics of 150 marks – Time 2 hours and it is the objective form

GS Paper III – Human Resource Development and Human Rights of 150 marks – Time 2 hours and it is again objective form.

Lastly, GS Paper IV – It mainly contains topics such as Economy, Science and Technology Development, Agriculture – 150 marks – time 2 hours.

Along with all the above syllabus, one must give importance to Current Affairs. You may have good book knowledge, but at the same time, you need to have a good understanding of what’s happening around you.

How to apply?

To apply for the Maharashtra Administrative Services Exam, you need to visit the official site for MPSC online application form. MPSC online application form is filled in two parts – registration and profile creation. Follow the below steps:

  • To begin with, visit their official site mahampsc.mahaonline.gov.in you can directly apply there. Then you need to register yourself to fill the MPSC online application form.
  • You are required to fill all the details, it is the basic thing where you need to click on new user and add your email-id, mobile number for the login/signup process and to complete the MPSC online application form.
  • Then, you need to upload the photograph and fill the MPSC online application form correctly and click on the submit button.
  • Then, click on my account and pay the fee according to your preferred mode. After this, you can download the admit card once you receive the notification. One important thing always remembers your login details like username and the password.
  • Lastly, for the fee it is Rs 524/- for GM and OBC/SC/ST it’s total of Rs 325/-
