Plasi War

Further, it is a victory of the British East India Company against the Nawab of Bengal and his French allies on 23 Jun 1757. It was under the leadership of Rober Clive. This war occurred during the period called the later Mughal Period. Further, during this period, Alamgir-II was ruling the empire. What is Battle of Plassey?
Let us understand more about the Plassey war, and it is a battle between the East India Company led by Robert Clive and the Nawab of Bengal. Further, it took place at Palashi on the banks of the Hooghly River, and it is about 150 k.m north of Calcutta and south of Murshidabad, then the capital of Bengal Subah. Clive conquered Siraj-ud-Daulah at Plassey in 1757 and captured Calcutta. Further, the battle was preceded by an attack on British-controlled Calcutta by Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah and the Black Hole massacre. Then, the British sent reinforcement under the leadership of Robert Clive and Admiral Charles Watson from Madras to Bengal and recaptured Calcutta. Further, Clive was successful in capturing the French fort of Chandernagar. This caused tension between Siraj-ud-daulah and the British culminating in the Battle of Plassey.
During the course of the war, on October 1764, in a final attempt the British from Bengal, along with armies of Mir Kasim, who was the Nawab of Awadh and Shah Alam II, came together to war against the former. Before the war, the East India Company had a strong presence in India, especially in three main stations. They are Fort St. George in Madras, Fort William in Calcutta, and Bombay Castle in western India since the Anglo-Mughal War. Further, these stations were independent, and they were governed by the president and a council, which was appointed by the Court of Directors in England. Later, the British adopted a policy of allying themselves with different princes and Nawabs. Further, by the 18th century, all rivalry between the British East India Company and the Dutch or Portuguese counterparts. Later, the French also established an East India Company under Louis XIV. Further, they had two important stations in India and they are Chandernagar in Bengal and Pondicherry on the Carnatic coast.
