Eligibility Criteria for IPS Exam
To become an IPS officer. A candidate must clear the UPSC exam. However, the candidate should be a graduate. The restriction on the number of attempts is effective from 1984. In general, there are 6 attempts. SC and ST candidates don’t have a limit of up to 37 years. OBC and handicapped candidates have 9 attempts. Going further, the candidate has to submit all the documents for the main exam. In fact, the physically challenged candidates will also have to satisfy all the requirements. UPSC IPS Syllabus
The IPS exam syllabus is divided into 3 categories. As mentioned above. The prelim exam is also known as CSAT. Also, it is the second paper of general studies. The prelim exam consists of 2 papers. Paper 1 is of 200 marks and paper 2 is 80 marks. However, prelim is the first round of the selection process. This is to judge the academic expertise of the student.
